We gained accreditation under the Montessori Evaluation and Accreditation Board (MEAB) scheme. The scheme, which includes two visits by MEAB assessors to the setting, also seeks to reassure parents that their Montessori school works with the Early Years Foundation Stage framework.

The preschool was inspected on Wednesday 15th April 2015. We received OUTSTANDING in all areas.

Our Montessori and EYFS curriculum is divided into seven areas. Each curriculum area is described in the Learning section

All teachers at both Rushmore House Montessori and Orpington Montessori have been trained in Pediatric First Aid and Epi-pen. Some of our new teachers need to be trained and our established staff's certificates were coming up for renewal. So we decided to run our own First Aid course at Rushmore House with a First Aid trainer. Ten staff attended the 12 hour course which was run over two Saturdays in October 2014. Because we organised the course ourselves we were able to tailor it to the needs of our preschools. This included instruction on how to use an Epi-pen and an emphasis on treating choking, CPR and anaphylaxis.

We pride ourselves on our childcare. Because we take children from 2 years we expect them to still be in nappies. Caring for very young children is more than just keeping them safe and clean. We talk to our children to help them to understand what is happening around them and so that we can understand their needs. The 'Key Person' system helps to foster bonding between children and their assigned member of staff who is responsible for monitoring their progress and communicating with their parents.
|
At Rushmore House we use the 'My Montessori Child' system to collect information about your child's progress and then share this information with you through a secure website.
|
Children staying for both the morning and afternoon sessions can attend the Forest School There is no extra charge for attending the Forest School. For more information visit the Orpington Forest School website.
